28 April is the annual World Day for Safety and Health. It is aimed at globally promoting the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. By acting together on a worldwide scale, we can build a positive safety and health culture.
Safety should start at home, and continue to infiltrate through to our workplaces, schools, travel, recreation, community and wherever we may find ourselves to be.
Make a conscious decision to be aware. Observe your surroundings and see if you can identify areas where more attention should be focused on health and safety. Foster a culture of safety. In its broadest sense, safety encompasses the liberation, happiness, security and fulfilment of our lives, as humans.
High and low risk hazards must be taken into account. Emergency exits, safety drills, safety signage, fire escapes…. these are all essential and critical precautions to take…whatever the environment!
Occupational Health and Safety inspectors can assist in providing hazard and risk-free environments. Areas of concern will be identified, recorded and corrected by them, on a continual basis, safeguarding and ensuring harmless surroundings.
Fire equipment, first aid boxes, hygiene awareness, Health and Safety posters, warning signage, information boards, etc. all contribute to preparedness, awareness and safety protocols. Some fun slogans:
“Prepare & prevent, instead of repair & repent”
“Safety first because injuries last”
“Machines and tools do not have brains – use your own”
“If you lift with your back, you’ll hear it crack”
At Falcon, we strongly support and encourage the prevention of accidents and other hazards. We provide personal protective equipment products (PPE) and many other products, e.g. cleaning products, chemicals, rags, footwear and boots.
What are your needs? Speak to us. We are always ready to assist.
